Meet Mama Bear
Carrie Unruh
Carrie–a true Twin Town resident–is a licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (MN), and licensed Social Worker (ND). While serving our country in the Army National Guard for 6 years as a Chaplain’s Assistant, she found her passion for the helping profession. Other positions she has held include Behavioral Health Professional at Circle of Nations School and Social Worker at Wilkin County Family Services. She received her Reiki Level 1 training in 2021. She is humbled and grateful for the opportunity to bring her full skillset to the founding of Northern Zen.

From the moment you meet Carrie, you know she cares deeply about helping others. She is an open-minded skeptic who loves to share what she uses for self-care. You won’t find her to be either pushy or even woo-woo, but rather an educated and thoughtful human.

One of her hobbies is cheering for the Vikings, which works out well since she loves purple and yellow. She wants to extend a sincere thank you to her family, her friends, and her Reiki Master for supporting her dream of opening a shop. Finally, she wants to welcome you with the warmest of greetings. Founding
The founding of Northern Zen was a long time coming. We officially formed in 2023 and are opening our store in Wahpeton in the spring of 2024. With forethought and good intentions, we wish to bring tranquility to the Twin Towns.
Founder Carrie believes in resiliency in the face of life’s struggles as well as the empowerment that comes with self-discovery. What better way to accomplish these than through a zen lens?
